No-vehicle zone in Bapu Bazar on Saturdays.
In a meeting of Traffic Management Committee on Friday, a number of issues were discussed. Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick presided over the meeting wherein it was discussed that traffic management in Udaipur city needs to be regularised.
Around 350 suggestions which were given by public were tested and 19 of these suggestions will soon be put into practice. One of the suggestions which will be on trial basis is making the city’s most crowded market area viz. Bapu Bazar a complete no-vehicle zone.
As per this trial, Bapu Bazar will be a no-vehicle zone on Saturdays. Some of the others approved suggestions include prohibiting 4-wheelers in the inner city areas for a particular time, filling the pot holes on roads, clearing the stray animals from city, spreading safety awareness among students, action against vehicles creating pollution, action against over-loading and also strict action and punishment for people not having driving licenses. Directives were issued to repair all the roads with immediate effect.

Illegal parking will also be dealt with strictly. It was also discussed that a foot-over bridge be made outside MB Hospital and encroachments be removed from everywhere. One of the major points was to keep a check on haphazard parking of autos. It will be mandatory for the auto rickshaw owners to halt at prescribed spots only.
