Three years back, 33 biometric machines were installed in MB hospital, ladies wing and TB hospital. The various departments of these hospitals were equipped with machines worth 2.25 lakhs. Since the machines have not been maintained on a regular basis, most of these have gone obsolete.

Merely half the staff can register for attendance on these machines. To keep a check and to maintain these machines, they have now been shifted to the offices of hospital superintendant and nursing staff. The doctors will now need to go the office of superintendent and nursing staff will register their attendance in the nursing superintendent’s office. But unless the entire staff is registered, these machines are of no importance.

Earlier 33 machines were installed in MB hospital, paediatric hospital, neurology department, cancer, medicine, skin, ENT, surgery, trauma and cardiology departments. More than half the machines went out of order. Now there is no attendance through machines. RNT medical college has 1 machine, MB superintendent office has 2, nursing superintendent office has 10, TB hospital has 1 and hospital superintendent room has 1 machine.

All RNT doctors are registered on the biometric machines. But in MB hospital 400 out of the 800 doctors, 115 TB hospital staff and 400 nursing staff is yet to be registered. The staff’s salary depends on the attendance register. Because of this, the point of necessity of machines is not being taken seriously and the staff uses its own free will in attending duties.

College additional principal Dr. Shalabh Sharma said that a random check is done on the server and explanation about late arrival is demanded via notice from the staff.
