On Papers: Gandhi Nagar of Kalkamata Road is in No-Man's LandNarayan Singh Chauhan who is a social worker and Secretary of Gandhi Nagar Vikas Samiti in a conversation with UT, expressed disappointment and said that people of Gandhi Nagar society are in a dilemma, the question arising every now and then with every society member on the status of this society.

According to him, the colony was under Ward no. 15 during the elections of the Municipal Council in 2004, but after the circumscription in 2009 this colony was excluded from the newly created Ward no. 36 and some newly built colonies were also excluded.

Now these colonies neither come under UIT nor UMC or any Gram Panchayat and due to this there is no development work carried out by the local authorities in this area since 2009.

“People here feel so isolated and cut off from the main stream that they’re not even getting their basic rights”, said Narayan Singh.

He added that we have no local authority support and people have to wander here and there even for basic things like a Ration Card.

He said that we have informed the District Collector, as well as several concerned authorities but there was no action taken regarding this matter.
