Rajasthan Government News: Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body Elections to be Held under 'One State-One Election' Framework

Key decisions included conducting Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections under the 'One State-One Election' framework.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, Minister for Industries and Commerce Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel briefed the media on the Cabinet decisions.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister told that the State Government has resolved to conduct the forthcoming Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections under the 'One State-One Election' concept. He said that holding these elections at different points in time adversely affects the pace of development works. To ensure uninterrupted development while conserving financial resources, manpower and administrative time, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had announced in the State Budget 2024-25 that elections to Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions would be synchronised under the One State-One Election framework.
OBC Reservations Under Local Bodies Acts - Lottery Process Begins
He further stated that the recommendations of the Rajasthan State Other Backward Classes (Political Representation) Commission were received by the State Government on August 5th. With the Cabinet approving these recommendations, the way has now been cleared for incorporating provisions relating to OBC reservation, in addition to the existing provisions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, under the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Acts. Following the approval, the lottery process for reservation of seats for these categories will now commence.
