Anti-encroachment team from Municipal Corporation was opposed by business men at University road. The team had to return empty handed.

Municipal corporation team in its anti-encroachment drive visited University road yesterday. They were about to take action on the temporary encroachments when the businessmen of that area gathered in opposition. The team had to return empty handed.

The anti-encroachment team tried to move the rakhi counters, water campers and poles from roadside. All businessmen on University road stood together in opposition. Protesting against the anti-encroachment drive, the businessmen blocked the area at Nagda restaurant choraha. For almost 30 minutes, the crowd shouted slogans and brought traffic to a halt. Meanwhile, Corporation seized some of the articles from the merchants.

Revenue Inspector Vijay Jain informed that the team had gone to take action against encroachment a few days back. Some of the merchants stood in opposition and also misbehaved with the anti-encroachment team. Cases have been registered against these merchants for obstructing administrative work. The team revisited the area on the orders on Corporation Commissioner. The merchants once again did not let the team carry out their work.

Since the anti encroachment team had seized some of the articles from the shops, the merchants did not let the team leave from the site. SI Chandmal Singharia had to be called, only then could the team leave University road. The merchants followed the team and forced them to stop at Sevasharm crossing. The merchants were asked to reach the corporation office to collect their belongings. They were told that they are supposed to take permission from the corporation for putting up stalls outside their shops. The merchants had put up their stalls without permission and also covered a lot of space on the road. Revenue Inspector Vijay Jain was accompanied by  Mohit Agnihotri and Rahul Meena as part of the anti-encroachment team.
