Passport Advisory: RPO Kota Issues Important Guidelines; DigiLocker Documents Accepted

Due to a system anomaly, applicants have to re-register and create a new UserID for accessing the correct PSK or POPSK

Udaipur | January 19, 2026: An advisory has been issued by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) at Kota, Rajasthan that addresses technical issues being faced by passport holders applying for re-issue of passports on the Passport Seva Portal. This advisory is specially relevant for applicants, who are applying for re-issue of their passport for centres whose Regional Passport Office has been amended by the Ministry of External Affairs. Udaipur is a classical example. Udaipur now falls under the Regional Passport Office, Kota. Previously Udaipur was under the RPO Jaipur.

Additionally, applicants from Baran, Banswara, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Rajsamand, Salumber and Sawai Madhopur have also reported problems similar to the applicants from Udaipur, because of this change in the parent RPO for these districts.

What is the Key Issue

As the Regional Passport Office for the above districts has been reassigned to Kota instead of Jaipur, the applicants who are applying from previously created logins, as seeing Jaipur as their RPO, instead of the newly assigned RPO Kota. Due to this re-assignment, the list of Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) under Kota and Udaipur are not visible on their login. Since the applicants are using their old login credentials, this issue is happening, as per Yashwant Mathe, the Regional Passport Officer at RPO Kota.

New Instructions for Applicants

RPO Kota has instructed that due to this system anomaly, all applicants having older logins must now create a fresh UserID by completing a new registration with a different username and password. Only a new login will allow the applicant to correctly select RPO Kota and access the appropriate PSK and POPSK locations under RPO Kota.

DigiLocker is Now Valid

The advisory further confirms that documents uploaded in the DigiLocker facility of the Indian Government are now officially accepted for passport verification. Applicants are accordingly advised to grant access to DigiLocker while submitting their applications to avoid delays.

The advisory also cautions against booking tickets before receiving the new Passport document.

For further assistance, applicants can contact the RPO Kota on +91 744 294 3382.
