Collector of Udaipur, Ashutosh Pednekar has assured the residents of Udaipur that the Collectorate Helpline, 0294-2414620 will be restored at the earliest and people will once again be able to register their complaints and seek assistance on many matters, including water and power supply and general cleanliness related issues.

This Helpline was started approximately two and a half years ago by the then Collector of Udaipur. Seemingly the current officials in the Collectorate including the Collector himself are not aware of such a facility which used to be active till around 3 months back and was available on all working days. The Helpline desk was situated in room no. 124 at the Collectorate.

Interestingly, this service was a bit among residents right from its launch, with 677 complaints being registered in the first month itself. Launched by the then Collector Hemant Gera, this service was conceptualized when representatives of various wards complained to the Collector that public utility services were not working properly and residents had to personally lodge complaints at the head office because there was no action taken at ward levels.

According to the procedure followed for availing this service, the caller had to give his name, address and the department name where he wanted the complaint registered, and the Helpline would register the complain, direct the relevant department to resolve the complain and track and monitor each complain. Hopefully once the service is restored, the same procedure will be followed.
