In an effort to make stronger security measures, Udaipur Police has initiated special watch towers at three different locations of the city.

The formal inauguration of the towers was done today by the selected police constables in presence of Mahesh Kumar Goyal, SP Udaipur District.

Two armed police personnel will keep close watch in the area every day for 5 hours (6pm-11pm), said Mahesh Kumar Goyal.

While addressing the media, Goyal said that, “The watch towers will help in vigilance and also evade crimes like chain snatching, eve teasing etc.”

The watch towers are installed at Udiapol Bus Stand, SurajpolChouraha and Lake FatehSagar.

Goyal also informed that the two constables will watch the area through tower. They are equipped with arms and night vision devices.

Despite of inaugurating the watch towers himself, SP had asked some selected police constables to do the inauguration. When asked about the reason, he said because of his rank, he’s always asked to lead such ceremonies, but today he decided to give this work to his subordinate for equal admiration.

Other police officials including Additional S.Ps, Deputy S.Ps and C.I were also present on the inauguration.

Udaipur is the third city in the country to have such watch towers. Similar ideas were implemented by S.P Mahesh Kumar Goyal when he was appointed to Jodhpur and Alwar.
