Pratapnagar-Balicha bypass is being widened into a 3-lane bypass by UIT. The 13 km stretch is in dire need of getting widened owing to the huge heavy vehicle traffic that it caters to.

The road widening process has already started showing results. Rs 14Cr is to be spent on this road widening exercise. Road is currently being broadened in the Nela area ahead of Titardi. One layer of concrete laying has already been done and another layer will be done to bring the height at par with the existing road.

Traffic has already started moving on places where a layer of road widening has been done. Three laning of this road is much required given that the road gets as narrow as 7-7.5 mtr wide. Carriage way is being widened to 12 mtr by cutting of hills and filling up the empty areas.

Once the road widening is finished, it will be able to accommodate 3 vehicles at the same time as opposed to 2 currently. UIT expects road widening to be completed by Aug-Sep 2018.

After the Debari-Kaya six lane bypass is completed, this road from Pratapnagar to Balicha will act as an inner-ring road in Udaipur. Once that happens, this road will be closed to heavy vehicles and only the light vehicles and two wheelers will ply on this road.
