Businessmen protested against “no-vehicle zone” in wall city today. All the businessmen at Jagdish Chowk, Gangaur Ghat, City Palace road, Clock Tower and Manji ji Bawari areas kept their shutters down until 12 o’clock today as a protest against No-Vehicle zone in these areas.

No-vehicle zone is being opposed since last one month since it has become a hassle for the tourists to move in these areas. As a result fewer tourists were seen in these areas which has created a loss in tourist income.  Around 12 noon today, the shops were opened after assurance from administration.

Amidst the protests, Devendra Jawalia reached the police station and assured the businessmen that this issue will be resolved once CEO Siddharth Sihag returns to Udaipur. Business resumed only after this assurance.

Earlier, a team of ICLEI Institute of South Asia had come to start a different parking system from Ashwini Market to Hathipole. Somehow this project was not implemented. At Surajpole crossing, traffic light system was put to an end and a roundabout traffic zone was created. This system has been appreciated by public as it doesn’t need much of crossing time.
