State Government Holiday declared on 11 April for Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti

State Government public holidays increased to 30

The Ashok Gehlot government has declared a government holiday across the state on the occasion of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti on 11 April. The order on the same was effected on 10 April. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti has been an optional holiday till now. Effective 2023, 11 April will be a compulsory State Government holiday.

Note that the request for this day to be declared as a mandatory government holiday has been given to the government in the past. The request was presented by Mamta Bhupesh, Min of Women and Child Development; State President of the National Phule President, DInesh Kumar Saini; Lokesh Malakar from Nagaur Parbatsar with support from various social organisations.

Mahatma Phule had played an important role in ending untouchability from the country and empowering the society. He did the work of freeing the society from evils, connecting girls and Dalits with education. He also made organized efforts for the rights of farmers and laborers.

After this, the number of public holidays in the state has increased to 30 and the number of optional holidays to 20.
