As anticipated, CM Ashok Gehlot paved way for accelerated development of Udaipur by pronouncing Udaipur as a Municipal Corporation. This news was clearly the highlight of the state budget as far as Udaipurites are concerned. Besides this announcement,  quite a few other benefits came rolling in Udaipur’s kitty including a Medical Research Center, Kaladwas Industrial Area (Rs. 700 Crore allotment) , General Hospital  (Rs. 10 Crore allotment) and priority to Mansi Vakal.

Gehlot also showed green flag to Tribal University in Udaipur and Rs.5 Crore was sanctioned for Baneshawar Fair.

The budget was highly concentrated on developing schemes and ongoing projects. Road Network, Health sector and Education sector were the key areas focused in the budget. Chief Minister also announced several projects on water and agriculture. Oil Refinery in Barmer was center of Budget 2013-14.

Gulabchand Kataria, leader of opposition was however not too satisfied with the budget and targeted present government on the implementation. He also complained that the budget did not give much to Mewar region.
