Udaipur welcomed its new District Collector, Chetan Ram Deora today at 10am. Deora, and officer of the elite Indian Administrative Service arrived today morning to the Collectorate at 10am alongwith Chittorgarh ADM Mukesh Kalal and took over charge from officiating Collector OP Bunkar. He was welcomed by OP Bunkar, UIT Secretary Arun Kumar Hasija and other senior officers alongwith Radheshyam Sharma, the Collectors personal assistant.
In his address to media, Deora said that his priority was to strengthen Udaipur's battle against the COVID pandemic. He said that the current progression of 10-15 cases per day was a cause of concern and needed to be restrained. He gave the example of Chittorgarh, where over the last 10 days there were zero new cases of COVID (211). Just yesterday, which is on 9th, there were 4 cases, taking the total to 215.
Deora said that a similar effort in educating the masses, using the services of social organisations, all administrative departments and media was essential in arresting the rise of the number of cases in Udaipur. He agreed that the incoming exodus of migrants is larger in Udaipur than in Chittorgarh and that is also a reason for the regular rise in cases in the district.
Deora added that among his top priorities will be to regularise the tourism sector in the city of lakes, that has taken the biggest hit following the COVID crisis.
Deora further added that he will also ensure that benefits of the flagship programs of the state government reach the recommended beneficiaries and the role of media in highlighting the faultlines will be his benchmark for implementation.
Earlier, after taking over charge, Deora held a meeting with the ADM OP Bunkar and other administrative officers across the district and took comprehensive feedback on the vacancies and the situation in the district with respect to administrative matters and of course, the ongoing battle against COVID.
