Rishikesh and Dehradun travel gets easier

MP Arjun Lal Meena has confirmed that Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will be visiting Udaipur immediately after 15th August and will inaugurate the Udaipur-Hardwar Express.

Meena, in his meeting with the Minister at Rail Bhawan on 25th July, confirmed that Prabhu will visit the Lake City and inaugurate the train.

Hardwar Express, which originally plied from Ajmer to Hardwar thrice a week, has now been extended till Udaipur.  The train will now ensure that passengers to Hardwar, Rishikesh, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Moth and Dehradun do not have to look elsewhere as the journey to these towns of religious and tourist interest will begin from Udaipur.

In his talk with media, Meena also conveyed that subsequent to the expansion of the UIT periphery to include 62 nearby villages, the population of Udaipur has jumped to 7 lac.  Quoting provision 377 during his session in the Lok Sabha on 22 July, Meena demanded that Udaipur be given B2 status since the provision 377 mentions that cities with population over 7 lac be included in B2 category.  Inclusion in B2 category will ensure that there is more development fund allocated to the city and an increase in the DA as well as other allowances of Government employees.

Continuing with the demand for a High Court bench in the city, Meena also pursued the possibility of plying direct flights to cities like Kolkatta, Bengaluru and Thiruvanantapuram, citing the tourist belts as well as commercial reasons to such extensions.  He suggested that the Ministry initiated trial pilot flights 2-3 times a week to these cities to understand the viability of the sector.
