Work on the ABD tender under the Smart City initiative is set to start in the next two weeks. Works worth Rs 537 Cr will be undertaken as part of this tender. 18 wards falling under the walled city of Udaipur will be covered under this tender.

Work on tender will start with launching of the website on 2-June. The website will have complete details about all work that will be carried out under this tender. This tender includes provision of 24 hour drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, improved sewerage condition and duct system for taking all types of cables underground. Also, the tender includes provision of smart roads without any poles. The project will be completed in 2 years. The website will have complete details about timeline of each work and also which ward will be impacted at what time. Citizens will also be able to log their complaints on the website about issues related to work being done as part of Smart City.

No road digging for next 10 years

As part of ABD tender, underground ducts will be fitted in the walled city. These ducts will carry electricity, telephone, internet and other cables. After this, new road will be constructed in this area. Smart City company has asked all telecom, cable and other operators to submit their plans for next ten years by 10-June. Once road is constructed as part of smart city initiative, then no road cutting or overhead cabling will be allowed for next 10 years in this area.

The entire walled city will also become pole-less.The street lights in the area will be hung from wall brackets attached to walls of houses in the area.
