Hundreds of locals from various parts of Udaipur reached Udaipur Municipal Corporation campus today morning to claim a card which can be used for purchasing Rs.2 per Kg wheat.

Hundreds of locals from various parts of Udaipur reached Udaipur Municipal Corporation campus today morning to claim a card which can be used for purchasing Rs.2 per Kg wheat. In a scheme recently initiated by State government to make available food grains in cheaper rates.

The hope of hundreds of locals turned into chaos when most of the individuals failed to find their names in list affixed.

Agitated masses also got into some harsh conversations with UMC officials. The situation came in control when they were made aware that, process is for residents of ward number 11 to 20.

According to officials of UMC, the problem occurred because of a small misunderstanding caused due to technical changes, in which ward numbers have been revised, where ward number 8 is changed to Ward number 20. Although the announcements were made on the basis of old ward numbers.

Himmat Singh Barath, Commissioner, UMC, “Further proceedings would be arranged in the respective wards itself, so that inconvenience to the masses can be minimized, as the validity of card is for 6 months only.”
