RTO may NOT register your new vehicle – 26 dealers in Udaipur issued notice
26 automobile dealers in Udaipur District have been issued notices by the Road Transport department on 20 February. Trade Licenses may get cancelled
26 automobile dealers earlier authorised by the RTO in Udaipur District have been issued notices by the Road Transport department on 20 February.
The dealers who have been issued notices are those who were authorised by the RTO to act as Registration Officers on behalf of the RTO, and includes those dealers who have not commenced the registration tasks. Their online access has been blocked by the RTO, subsequent to issuing the notice.
How will non compliance of this notice affect them
Cars, Motor cycles, Scooters, Tractors, etc sold by these defaulter dealers will not be registered by the RTO Udaipur. As per RTO CL Malviya, these dealers have been instructed to begin the proceedings of registration before the end of day of 21 February, failing which action will be taken, which will include cancellation of their Trade Certificates.
What is the background
UT spoke to an officer at the RTO and we were informed that the Government had issued strict directives, whereby Private automobile dealers were identified and authorised to act on behalf of the RTO. All such identified dealers had been given Login IDs to a specific portal for this purpose, where they could log on and register the vehicles sold on realtime basis. This procedure would ensure that customers will not be required to all the way to the RTO for vehicle registration. This will also parallely ensure that the workload on the RTO reduces considerably and the department would be able to focus on regulatory procedures.
However, the identified dealers have delayed taking their authorisation letters and beginning the real time registration of vehicles sold by them.
