Rumour of Udaipur bandh-Bike burnt at Badi
A bike was burnt at Badi on Monday.
Following the tension of Afrazul’s murder at Rajsamand some days back, rumour regarding Udaipur bandh and rallies created more chaos. This was enough to keep Udaipur police on their toes.
Despite huge police patrol, vehicle burning incidents and turbulent activities took place. 15 people were arrested in this matter. A bike was burnt in Badi. As reported by Shahid, Saklain, Soyeb and Arshad in Ambamata police station, these 4 friends went for a photo shoot in Badi. On their return they were stopped by 40 bikers who burnt Saklain’s bike and also hit these 4 young men. The friends somehow managed to escape and reached police station. After this incident, all shop shutters went down and shops were opened only after police took control of the situation. Some auto rickshaws were also damaged by a similar group.
During afternoon on Monday, 40 persons gathered at Chetak Circle. These young men demanded the presence of ADM Administration at Chetak Circle. After the arrival of ADM CR Devasi, these men said that they wanted to take out a rally in the city. To this ADM Devasi said that a rally can be taken out only after a systematic appeal. Then these 40 youth spent some time at Chetak Circle before leaving on their bikes.
2 weeks back, the murder of Afrazul at Rajsamand created enough fervour in Udaipur city. During this time, internet was grounded for 3 days to maintain peace since rumours and messages on social media were adding fuel to fire. Section 144 was also imposed but even this did not deter the aggressive attitude of people.
A message went viral on social media later regarding Udaipur bandh on 25th December. 10 people who circulated videos showing over aggressiveness were arrested. SP Rajendra Goyal has appealed to public to ignore any kind of rumour they come across. Anyone disturbing peace in the city will be dealt with strictly.
