Udaipur, April 9, 2026 - District Collector Mohammad Junaid PP has issued necessary directions to CMHO Dr Mahendra Parmar in view of the potential threat of Suspected Viral Encephalitis in Lasadiya and other blocks of the district. He has instructed that immediate action be ensured for the prevention and effective control of the disease.

Intensive Screening and Immediate Treatment

Instructions have been given to form special teams comprising CHO/ANM, ASHA workers and Medical Officers to conduct health screening of all children in the district. If any symptoms are detected, children should be immediately admitted to the nearest hospital.

Coordination in Referral Cases

If any referred patient refuses to go to the hospital, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer. The patient must be counselled and ensured to reach the hospital.

Extensive Vector Control Campaign

Directions have been issued to conduct large-scale fogging, anti-larval activities and cleanliness drives to control vector-borne diseases.

Special Focus on High-Risk Pregnancies

Special medical attention and monitoring are to be ensured for co-morbid patients and high-risk pregnancy cases.

Action Against Illegal Clinics and Quacks

Strict action has been ordered against unqualified practitioners and those making misleading treatment claims in both rural and urban areas, including sealing their clinics.

Screening in Schools and Anganwadis

All children in schools and Anganwadi centres are to be screened. The Chief District Education Officer and the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department have been directed to fully cooperate with the Health Department.

Community Outreach and Public Participation

For awareness and preventive measures, community outreach activities must include respected members of society and public representatives.

Authorised Medical Bulletin Only

To prevent rumours, official bulletins regarding the situation and actions taken should be issued only after approval from the competent authority, ensuring accurate information reaches the public.

Implementation of Orders

All instructions must be implemented with top priority and immediate effect.

Administration’s Appeal

If any symptoms of the disease appear in children, parents are advised to immediately contact the nearest hospital.
