Sand bags were used to stop water flowing out from Nela talab in Hiranmagri Sector 14. UIT is soon to decide the maximum level for this water body.

As per orders of UIT chairman Ravindra Shrimali, Regional AEN Suresh Jain reached Nela talab and placed sand bags at the points from where water was leaking in abundance. This effort of stopping water flow also brought forward some shocking points.

Certain area of Nela talab has been occupied by people who have built their houses there. When the talab gets full, they fall under river bed region. To avoid any kind of trouble, people in the river bed area sneak out at night and remove sand bags from these small holes as a result of which water flows out of the talab very fast. This causes water level of Nela talab to go down. Now UIT is planning to take action against such people who have occupied this river bed area.

Water resource department has been asked to decide the maximum water level of this talab. At least this way the capacity of Nela talab would be known. Ravindra Shrimali said that steps will be taken to see that Nela talab stays full throughout the year without posing any problem.

This water body is being developed so that public gets another spot for leisure time and one of the most important point is that it is also one of the oldest water bodies in town, hence it needs to be preserved.

Steps are on for developing this place as another tourist spot. Ignored for a long time and with very less water, plots were cut out and sold in the river bed. A promenade is also being built here so that people can enjoy their evenings here. Once developed, this area will be just another beautiful destination like the other lakes of the city.
