Sewerage issues need to be addressed first: Dr. Singh

The Self-governed department held a meeting with UIT and Nagar Nigam’s officers to discuss the laying of sewerage lines across the city and replace the older ones with new, improved lines.
Secretary of the department Dr. Manjeet Singh said that in the old city, the pipe lines are around 40 years old with leakage problems that need to be replaced. Outskirt areas of Udaipur do not have proper sewerage system that is required to be implemented soon. Also, a DPR needs to be formed for laying sewerage lines.
Dr. Singh advised to work on some guidelines for the next 5 years to convert Udaipur into the Best City. According to him, the priority should be water availability, cleanliness, road and drainage. Construct public toilets and sewerage pipelines, especially beside lake areas.
Adding to the needs of the city, Singh asked the Nigam to purchase another de-weeding machine to maintain cleanliness in the Udaisagar and other lakes.
The 35 minute long meeting also discussed the lake conservation and sewerage projects. The members included were Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari, Deputy Mayor Lokesh Dwivedi, UIT Secretary Ramniwas Mehta, Commissioner Himmat singh Barhath, NLCP Team Leader B.L Kothari, SE of UIT Sanjay Sharma, Mukesh Jani, Neeraj Mathur, Manish Arora, Mukesh Pujari and Mahesh Aadha.
