Work is set to begin soon for six laning of Kaya-Debari bypass. Contract for construction of the 24 km long highway has been given to Ahmedabad based firm, Sadbhav Construction. Six lane bypass is expected to give a much needed relief to the ever-jammed cross roads at Pratapnagar, Madri and Eklingpura.

Sadbav is the third company to have been given the work order for construction. Sadbhav has estimated a cost of Rs 825 Crore for construction of the bypass. Prior to this Kolkata based Maheshwari brothers had picked up this work order at estimated cost of Rs 779 Crores and even started work. They however backed off citing financial stress.

The first firm to receive the work order for the 550km Kishangarh-Ahmedbad stretch was GMR Construction company. However, GMR let go of the project citing financial concern. The project then had to be broken down into 5 stretches as no single firm was willing to take the entire stretch. The five stretches included Kishangarh-Gulabpura, Gulabpura-Chittorgarh, Chittorgarh-Debari, Debari-Kaya and Kaya-Himmatnagar.

Tender for Debari-Kaya was recently given to Sadbhav. The construction on this stretch would demand navigating through mountains, valleys and uneven land. Company will take 5-6 months for starting work on the project.

Post construction of the bypass, heavy vehicles will not be permitted till Pratapnagar crossroad. Trucks, Buses, Dumpers etc will not enter into the city. The existing two lane bypass will be used as a suburban road.
