With the need to promote tourism, cost of bus tickets and cost of tickets at tourists needs to be cut down.

Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria while laying the foundation of Smart City project said that in order to attract more tourists to Udaipur, the ticket cost at tourist spots in and out of the city should be reduced. He also added that even the bus fares must be reduced so that tourists coming to Udaipur do not feel the pinch of expenses. People wish to visit bio-park with their children but the tickets are available at such a high cost that common man does not dare to enter. Even the auto rickshaws take not less than 200 rupees which is again an expensive affair. Kataria suggested that if the bus fare is affordable and buses are operated on the places of tourist importance, then the industry will benefit as even the common man will be able to visit these places. He even pointed out that the parking lots are not in a good condition. If the parking fee is reduced and people are encouraged to park their vehicles in these lots, traffic can be lot more manageable. Whether Lake City becomes an industrial city or not is not important, steps should be taken to modify the city from tourist point of view. He said that keeping Ayad river flowing constantly for 7 months will prove be another achievement.

Kataria also mentioned that a request has been placed in CP Joshi’s office to arrange for an international match which will certainly add to the importance of Udaipur as a tourist destination. Dr. CP Joshi has recently been appointed as President of RCA.

UIT Chariman Ravindra Shrimali was also present for the foundation ceremony. He said that polluted water falls into Madar Nahar as a result it has become contaminated. With the support of Municipal Corporation, Madar channel can be cleaned.

Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari added that the process of cleaning city will now be given shape. Until now, door-to-door garbage collection work is being given more attention, but going forth city and roads will also be considered in the cleanliness project.
