-The emergency systems installed in the buildings are a mere show piece.

-Action to be taken and notices to be issued to the concerned people.

Multi-storeyed buildings are supposed to be equipped with the disaster management systems. It is mandatory that the buildings have at least fire-fighting systems and in proper condition to deal with emergencies.

On Tuesday, the Disaster Management teams inspected 7 multi-storeyed buildings in Udaipur and were shocked that none of the buildings are equipped with fire-fighting systems. The systems installed were either incomplete or merely there as a show piece.

It was observed that some of the buildings do not have pipes at all and some have pipes which are not systematically connected. In case of fire in the buildings, the upper floors can land up in trouble. The teams inspected 5 residential and 2 commercial complexes in New Navratan area and Sectors 3 and 4 in Hiranmagri.

The concerned people will be issued notices directing them to install complete systems, and maintain them as well. The buildings inspected have 5 to 10 floors and are under risk without proper safety systems.
