Udaipur, Feb 11, 2026 - A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Tuesday (February 10) at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Namit Mehta. The discussion focused on controlling road accidents in the district and streamlining traffic management.

During the meeting, the District Collector directed that a 30 km/hour speed limit be imposed on Fateh Sagar Ring Road to keep a check on high-speed driving. The Transport Officer was instructed to install signboards at various points and take legal action against violators.

The meeting also highlighted traffic congestion on the Fateh Sagar embankment in the evenings. The Collector directed that under a pilot project, a No Vehicle Zone be implemented for a few hours on weekends from Moti Magri to the overflow point to ease congestion.

The members also discussed No Vehicle Zones, one-way streets and parking facilities in the city. A committee previously formed under the leadership of ADM City with officials from the Nagar Nigam, Udaipur Development Authority and Tourism Department, was tasked with identifying the necessary No Vehicle Zones, one-way streets, parking areas and pedestrian divider zones in the city and ensure compliance.

District Collector Mehta expressed concern over road accidents and emphasised collective and effective measures to reduce them. He directed an analysis of accident data through i-Ride and identification of black spots every month so as to implement necessary road engineering measures to prevent recurrence.

Additionally, the police department was instructed to submit a report after reviewing feedback on the AI-based traffic light system at Fatehpura intersection which was implemented as a pilot project.
