The much awaited sports complex of Udaipur, Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, will host sports activities soon after finishing work of various courts which is in its final phase, as decided in a meeting of UIT and District Sports Council earlier this morning.

According to Lalit Singh Jhala, Director, District Sports Council, “Work of the final phase at various sports court including swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball and archery has started. It will take another two months before sports activities can be organized in Khel Gaon.”

Jhala added that UIT has already started process of transferring Khel Gaon to District Sports Council, where all the financial dues have been cleared for transfer. UIT has also agreed to ensure proper connecting roads along with other basic amenities.

Jhala further added that an expert survey of respective courts will be done, under supervision of related sports secretary at Khel Gaon.

Sources informed that project of Khel Gaon was initiated in year 2007, where UIT spent around Rs. 87 Crores over the construction, in which provision for Cricket ground was also kept. Cricket ground was allotted to Rajasthan Cricket Association who decided to carry out further construction.
