Some of the expensive mobiles stolen from shops in the last three months have been traced through IMEI numbers.

As per police officials, the stolen mobiles were sold to various people in the city. As per the IMEI numbers of the mobiles which are printed on the mobile boxes, police started tracing locations of stolen mobiles. It may be noted that thieves followed the same modus operandi in all the mobile thefts in the city. They stole expensive mobiles from various shops and left the mobile boxes there itself.

Apart from thieves, cases will be registered against the buyers of these mobiles as well. Police have recovered some of the mobile sets based on IMEI tracks. It is expected that based on CCTV footage, police will soon arrest the culprits.

In the last three months, expensive mobile instruments worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from mobile shops in the city. The last theft occurred on Monday night in a shop at Chetak Circle. One of the mobile shops was robbed twice in a month. Thieves have targeted only expensive range of mobiles and even LED TVs. They did not touch any other accessory in the shop but took away all the cash they could lay their hands on.
