Street Hawkers at Hospital Road protested against today’s police action of forcibly removing them on the name of encroachment.
The hawkers approached Additional Deputy Magistrate (Administration) and appeal to permit their businesses.
City administration is reacting strictly on the street vendors, hawkers and people setting up their business on road side. From past few weeks, Udaipur Municipal Corporation has started drive against encroachment and evacuating footpaths and road sides from hawkers.
According to the hawkers of Hospital Road, they are running their business for the last 30 years and were also promised to get license. The order was passed in Sept 2013 but until now the license was not issued.
Hawkers demanded permission to continue their business on streets. However, ADM Narayan Singh has told the group of hawkers that the issue is responsibility of UMC.
Hawkers Association has now decided to go on strike on 13th Jan and demonstrate outside UMC.
