A lot of illegal constructions are taking place in Udaipur city. In spite of the fact that there are areas which fall under no-construction zone, people have been carrying on with constructions since a long time.

Many illegal constructions are happening in the prohibited areas of Lake Pichola and Lake Fatehsagar. To keep a check on these constructions, Udaipur Collector has formed a surveillance committee. In a meeting on Wednesday, the Collector stated that despite declaring no-construction zones, the areas around the lakes are still being encroached upon and illegal constructions are on the rise. These must be stopped at the earliest.

The surveillance committee comprises of SE and land acquisition officers of UIT, SE of Municipal Corporation, Tehsildar Girwa, Tehsildar UIT, and AEN of UIT and Municipal Corporation. The respective officers have been directed to conduct regular inspections of the prohibited areas and present a report on the same.

This action would keep a check on the illegal constructions as many influential people have been carrying out new constructions. Now that the committee has been formed, the responsibility of every committee member would be decided once any complaint reaches the collector’s office.
