Lake City Udaipur is among one of the favourite destinations on the tourist map of India. But certain important issues need to be taken care of.

Water and wash room facilities are the biggest requirement for anyone. Udaipur is known as the City of Lakes, but the issues faced by tourists are that of drinking water. This is similar to being thirsty at the well. With a city having lakes full of water, provision of drinking water is one of the biggest drawbacks here. Though there are shops at the tourist spots which provide bottled drinking water, yet that doesn’t suffice the requirements. Basically there is a need of drinking water at all the public places. It is sad that the water coolers at many places do not work and some places do not even have the facility of water coolers.

Especially in summers when there is utmost need of drinking water, the absence of water coolers makes it difficult for anyone to quench thirst. It is practically not possible to carry too many water bottles everywhere, specifically for the tourists who carry other necessary items in their backpacks. Bottled drinking water is expensive as well. The trouble of disposing used bottles is also adding to troubles since the garbage bins are usually full at tourist spots and give out unbearable stench.

Another issue faced is that of wash rooms. Basic facility like wash rooms needs to be developed in every city. For Udaipur, it is more than urgent to have wash room facilities since during winter season, the city buzzes with tourists. Lack of facilities is creating a negative impact for the city. There is a Sulabh Complex(washroom facility) at Saheliyon ki Bari which is locked probably for the reason of no mutual understanding between Municipal Corporation and Sulabh group.

Wash rooms must be made available for people at war footing at tourist spots. It becomes extremely difficult for females to ease themselves in the absence of such basic facilities. Some of the facilities are far away from the tourist spots and people are not even aware of their presence.

With a city as beautiful as Udaipur, these basic facilities need to be developed for the comfort of tourists. Another problem faced is that of beggars. Administration is not bothered that these beggars are spoiling the image of Lake City by troubling the tourists. This issue has been pointed out a number of times but no action has been taken so far.
