Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) and Tourism Department is set to start Tourist Cab facilities in the city pretty soon. The facility will provide for easy and economical travel across the city. The move is aimed at targeting the rickshaw owners who charge fleecing amount from the tourists.

According to Sumita Saroj, Director, Tourism Department, this is a joint effort of UMC and Tourism Department. As per the plan, compact four wheel cabs will be deployed along various routes, primarily in the old city area. Cabs will be privately owned and operated.

Sumita added that a permanent office will be established near parking lot of Jagdish Chowk. One can hire or books cabs at a competitive rate from the office. The cabs deployed in the service will be either owned by an individual or a company. The cabs will be painted in a uniform design and colour.
