As declared in the budget meeting of current financial year, Udaipur Municipal Corporation has though kicked off the Golf Carts facility at Fatehsagar, however the service failed to allure due lack of adequate arrangements for smooth functioning of Golf Carts, including traffic management and allotment of space for booking office.

The Golf Carts were intended to run on Fatehsagar Road starting from Swaroop Sagar till the end of Pal, although no arrangements have been made for proper traffic movement on the course of golf carts; moreover since the Pal is blocked from both ends as is no-vehicle zone, the carts do not complete its route.

According to Jagdish Sukhwani, the contractor responsible for operating the service, sloppy coordination among various administrative departments delayed the operations; one of the major lag from corporation is non-availability of space for booking counter, added Jagdish.

Jagdish further said, “Apart from booking space problem, UMC failed to divert traffic causing sluggish movement and the other issue which will be heightened in June with the increase in number of golf carts to 6, is space required for parking of carts”.

Rajni Dangi, Mayor of UMC said, “Corporation is aware of prevailing issues and the same will be discussed with respective departments shortly for permanent solution”.
