A decision was taken today to shut all tubewells located with 200 mtrs of Fatehsagar lake. This decision was taken considering the adverse impact of these tubewells on lake Fatehsagar.

This decision was taken today in a meeting chaired by District Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick. It was recommended in the meeting that tubewells (both Government and private) dug in the vicinity of 200mtrs of Fatehsagar were causing an adverse impact on the lake and needed to be shut.

District Collector asked the PHED to evaluate the cost and benefits of the Government tubewells in the area and to take a call accordingly considering public welfare.

As a next step, survey of all tubewells in the 200mtr radius of Fatehsagar will be initiate shortly. This will be followed by assessment and action by different departments.
