Bhinder police have arrested 2 members of an inter-state gang who have confessed to committing crimes in a number of places including Udaipur city. The culprits used to move around on stolen bikes while putting their plans to action. They have confessed committing robberies in Indore, Chittor and Udaipur. They also revealed names of other gang members. Bhinder SHO Himanshu Singh said that Saddam Pathan(26) s/o Ismail Khan Pathan and Lala Pathan(22) s/o Rafiq Khan both from Pithalwadi, Pratapgarh have been arrested.

The other members as revealed by these criminals are Niyaz Mohammed s/o Gulsher Mohammed Khan, Azad Mohammed from Pratapgarh and Bhagwana Dangi and Kamla from Madhya Pradesh. Police were searching for Saddam based on a CCTV footage where he had robbed rupees 45000 from a merchant at Rampol Bus stand of Bhinder. As per an information, Saddam was hiding in his in-laws’ house in Binota in Chittorgarh, Udaipur, from where he was arrested by the police team. Lala Pathan was arrested as per whereabouts given by Saddam. The two confessed committing robberies on petrol pump and bus stand last month along with many others.

Modus operandi

After the loot, they would disperse. They used to spend nights in tents on the fields of their acquaintances. All POA for next robbery used to be decided in these tents. For the last three months, they were camping on fields in Jabalpur and Jirapura. One group on bike used to move around performing recce of the area to be robbed and second group used to put their plans to action.

Pithalwadi village infamous for such activities

SHO Himanshu said that Pithalwadi is infamous for such criminal activities. Many criminals from this village are still absconding. Saddam and Lala belong to the gang master-minded by Niyaz. Saddam has 15 cases against him in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

• 45000 rupees robbed from a merchant at bus stand on 20^th June
• Snatched a gold nose-ring from a woman near Davela talab on 29^th June
• Cash from petrol pump in Dungla, Chittor
• 80000 rupees from a businessman at Fawwara Chowk in Chittor
• 1lakh 30 thousand rupees robbed from a merchant almost 2 ½ months back in Savina Anaj Mandi, Udaipur
• 1 lakh 70 thousand rupees from a man outside SBI in Indore three months back
• 2 ½ lakh rupees from a man outside SBI in Indore 6 months back

Investigations are still going on to find out the whereabouts of other members of the gang. Police is expecting to find important clues from the 2 arrested members.
