The Mini Secretariat proposal of the government would enable all administrative offices to work out of a single premise
Udaipur, March 17, 2025 – The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) is looking to reserve about 10 hectares of land to house different government offices in Udaipur on a single premise. This planning is based on the Mini Secretariat proposal undertaken by the State Government to establish Mini Secretariats in all districts of the State.
The decision to create a Mini-Secretariat was taken in a meeting by the UDA. It is looking for land in the newly included peripheral panchayats of the city in areas like Balicha, Nohra and Lakhavali. Having all the departments in one location will not only improve co-ordination among departments but also save the public from running around to different places. Plus, several Central and State government offices are running short of space. Allocating separate spaces for them would require more land. Hence, the proposal of a Mini Secretariat.
Once UDA has the land, government offices running in rented buildings will also be shifted to the new premises. This would enable several district-level offices to function within the same complex.
Under Rajasthan government’s proposal to establish Mini Secretariats in all districts of the State, 12 districts were previously selected - Jaipur, Ganganagar, Alwar, Sikar, Pratapgarh, Jaisalmer, Sirohi, Jodhpur, Banswara, Churu, Tonk and Dholpur. Work began in almost 50% of these locations but progress has stalled in some areas.
UDA’s earlier announcement of plans to reserve land for residential colonies in Lakhawali and Nohra villages had raised the interest of property dealers leading to a rise in land prices. Now, the new Mini Secretariat plans have further piqued the interest of property dealers.
