Decisions taken to construct new roads to remove bottlenecks in the city; plans include removing bottleneck at Nagda restaurant lane, new roads on both sides of railway track at Kumharon ka Bhatta and installing traffic signals
Udaipur, January 23, 2025 – Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain held discussions with Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) Commissioner Rahul Jain and other officials yesterday, January 22, about construction of new roads in the city in order to eliminate bottlenecks. Additional Chief Engineer Sanjeev Sharma, along with other engineers, the Tehsildar and various officers and staff members were present at the meeting.
MLA Jain informed that efforts are being made for road widening and opening new routes for smoother traffic flow in the city. All issues arising in the development of these new roads are being addressed and affected landowners or homeowners are being assured of fair compensation.
As per the decisions taken in the meeting, the UDA will begin work on the following projects:
The road from Doodh Talai going through Jal Burj, Sita Mata and Pichola Ring Road opens up at the Malla Talai intersection. However, the route is blocked near Trident Hotel owing to a 150-feet private land. It has been agreed that as a solution, the landowner will be provided with land at another location, and a 150-foot long and 40-foot wide road will be constructed. Once this is done, commuters travelling from Doodh Talai will be able to go directly to Malla Talai without needing to go through the city.
Preparations are underway to develop a service road near Nehru Hostel. The hurdle of the hostel land of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, which was in the way, has been removed as the University has agreed to sell 92 metres of land for the service road. UDA already owns 108 meters of land at the hostel.
The meeting also discussed the bottleneck at Nagda restaurant lane on University Road. Talks for land acquisition have been held with two shopowners who have agreed to relocate. UDA will now remove the bottleneck and widen the road.
New roads will be constructed along both sides of the railway tracks at Kumharon ka Bhatta. One road will pass through Nokha and lead to the Seva Ashram overbridge. The second will pass through Mali Colony and connect to the 100 feet road. UDA will acquire the land for both roads from the owners.
Sukher, Bhuvana and Pratap Nagar intersections have no traffic signals because of jurisdiction issues. Nagar Nigam has not installed signals here because the areas fall under the UDA jurisdiction. Following discussions, it was decided that UDA will provide Rs 18.50 lakh to the Nagar Nigam for installation of traffic signals at these intersections.
