In a recent list made by the Directorate General Civil Aviation, Udaipur's airport stands under 'highly sensitive wildlife hazard' category. The list consists of 18 airports in the country and Udaipur airport being on of them.

 

Udaipur Airport: Highly Sensitive Wildlife Hazard, says DGCA

In a recent list made by the Directorate General Civil Aviation, Udaipur’s airport stands under ‘highly sensitive wildlife hazard’ category. The list consists of 18 airports in the country and Udaipur airport being on of them.

On 15th november, a DGCA team will inspect Udaipur airport especially the landing and taking off strips and the nearby areas to prepare a report. Upon that, the DGCA will ask the airports authority to take up concerned measures to prevent animal straying and erasing grazing grounds.

A DGCA official on Wednesday informed, “A 4-member team including two from DGCA, one from airports and one safety pilot will visit Udaipur on November 15 and another team will visit Jaipur airport on November 22. The teams after their visits will submit their report to DGCA and later their suggestions would be issued to the airports concerned.”

An incident had happened in Surat airport recently where a SpiceJet aircraft hit a straying buffalo while take off. This incident led the civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pasupati to take immediate actions for the rest of the airports in the country posing similar danger.
