With 60% increase, Udaipur airport pulled off one of the highest jump in air passenger traffic in the country. It has been reported that over a million passengers travelled from the city airport in 2016-17 (April to February period).

Data placed by Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation reflected that a total of 10 Lakh people travelled in 2016-17 from the Udaipur airport. This was an increase of 3.75 Lakh passengers from the previous year.

Buoyed by the increase in passenger traffic, Government is now considering upgrading the air strip at the Maharana Pratap Airport and increasing the effective runway length.
