Following the orders of Rajasthan High Court and National Green Tribunal, the city has banned manufacturing and selling of POP statues to safeguard lakes and water bodies from pollution.
A meeting was held by the administration on Monday along with the sculptors who were asked to manufacture eco-friendly statues. Additional Collector O.P Bunkar informed all the sculptors that the orders will be strictly followed under which POP statues will be neither manufactured nor sold.
The statues will have to be made using eco-friendly products and those found guilty will be legally penalized. Also, use of synthetic toxic chemical based colors is strictly restricted.
However, the POP can be used to create flowerpots, toys and other household show pieces. During the meeting, sculptors from Hiran Magri, Bhupalpura, Surajpol etc. were present.
