Asymptomatic and Working in the Coronaward (Suspect zone) between 28 March to 19 April

Under Home Quarantine from 20 April

Curfew in 1 Km radius of patients residence. 3 km Containment Zone

A Nurse stationed at the Coronavirus ward in Maharana Bhupal Hospital (MB Hospital) in Udaipur was declared to be COVID-19 positive today evening.  This incident takes the total COVID-19 Positive Count of Udaipur to 7. Two of the earlier patients will be released tomorrow.

The Nurse, who is a resident Pannavihar in Bhupalpura is aged 55 years.  This information was provided by Dr. Dinesh Kharade, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Udaipur.  As per further information, the Nurse was working at the Suspect Zone in the 7Coronavirus Ward, which is on the 2nd floor of the new hospital building.  She was stationed at the ward fro m23 March till 19 April.

Once her duty at the ward was over, she was under Home Quarantine from 20 April onwards. The nurse was declared Asymptomatic Coronavirus Positive, meaning that she was not showing any of the pre-defined symptoms of Coronavirus, but was tested merely on the basis of her prersence in the Coronavirus wards.  The asymptomatic quarantine patients are tested after 5 days of being under home quarantine on returning from suspect zone.

Immediately after the information was made public the administration and hospital was on high alert.  Shops in the Bhupalpura region have been ordered to shut down immediately and a curfew of sorts is already in place.

Contact tracing has begun on war front and the colleagues of the nurse have been rounded up to ensure strict compliance to contact tracing.

Her Husband, aged 62 years and her 4 year old grand son are the two close contacts of the Nurse. Total tenants in the home where she was staying is 6.  All have been referred to the Coronavirus ward at MB Hospital.

Barricades have been put up around Bhupalpura and nearby areas. A repeat of the Mulla Talai exercise is visible. Sanitisation work has been started by the Udaipur Municipal Coorporation (Nagar Nigam) and the containment zone barricading is in process.
