Chetan Deora, District Collector of Udaipur has indicated that the district administration may take a decision on implementing a full Lockdown on Sunday. This will be applicable from the weekend following 3 August, which is a festival weekend – Eid ul Adha and Raksha Bandhan.

This follows a directive given on 27 July re-implementing curfew hours between 9pm till 5am. Markets will be shut at 8pm and curfew will begin by 9pm.

Deora, in his message to the public through media, said that the fear of COVID has disappeared from the common man’s psyche. The fear needs to be there so as to maintain the necessary social distancing protocol. Non essential movement in public places and markets has increased the COVID threat in Udaipur.

He added that there is no need to clutter on tourist spots as they are perpetual and will be accessible even after the COVID danger has subsided.

On 28 July, Udaipur increased it COVID tally by 29. The total positive cases in the district have gone up to 1171. There are 200 active cases. The last death due to COVID was on 25 July. The total deceased attributed to COVID in Udaipur stand at 12.
