Udaipur, May 7, 2025 – A civil defence mock drill will be carried out today, May 7, across the country to prepare for emergency situations. As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in the current geo-political scenario, new threats and challenges have come up. Therefore, it would be “prudent that optimum Civil Defence preparedness in the States/Union Territories is maintained at all times.”

The mock drill is to be conducted across more than 250 districts in Indian in order to be prepared for “hostile” attacks amid standoff with Pakistan over the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 26 people were killed.

The drill is designed to integrate with daily routines without causing major disruptions. All schools, colleges, banks, government offices and other institutions are to remain open and work as usual.

Alternative power sources like inverters, solar lights and generators should also be turned off to support the exercise. Emergency medical services will remain exempt from the blackout.

The Collector urged the public to avoid spreading or believing rumours and to calmly follow official instructions.

There are 280 Civil Defence volunteers in the city, all of whom have received basic training. Assistant Administrative Officer Dhanendra Kashyap informed that preparations for the mock drill have been made, and the volunteers, who assist during disaster situations, will remain on alert.

A siren has been installed at the Collectorate, and additional sirens will be placed at distant locations in the morning. Resources useful in disaster scenarios have also been readied.
