Udaipur Heatwave Alert: Administration Issues Public Advisory

Udaipur district administration is on alert amid rising temperatures; guidelines are issued for public safety, hospitals prepared and departments instructed to manage heatwave conditions effectively

Udaipur, April 16, 2026 - In view of the continuously rising temperatures in the State and warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district administration is on alert mode under the guidance of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, following directions from the Central and State Governments. All necessary steps are being taken to protect citizens and livestock during the heatwave.

Nodal Officer Appointed

The National Disaster Management Authority has declared 23 States, including Rajasthan, as heatwave-prone. Accordingly, the Relief Commissioner has been assigned the responsibility of preparing and implementing the Heatwave Action Plan at the district level.

As per State Disaster Management Department orders, the Additional District Collector (Administration) has been appointed as the nodal officer for heatwave management in the district. The officer will directly monitor preparedness, awareness campaigns and relief efforts.

Awareness activities (IEC campaigns) will also be conducted to educate the public about heatstroke prevention. All sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, municipal commissioner and 12 key departments including health have been put on alert.

Public Advisory

The district administration has issued “Do’s and Don’ts” guidelines for public safety during heatwave conditions and urged citizens to consult doctors immediately in case of any health issues.

Do’s

  • Drink plenty of water regularly
  • Consume buttermilk, lassi and fresh fruit juices
  • Wear light, loose, cotton clothes
  • Cover your head with a cap, scarf or umbrella
  • Drink ORS, lemon water, mango panna and coconut water
  • Avoid going out between 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
  • Keep homes cool using curtains, ventilation and fans/coolers

Don’ts

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight
  • Do not consume fluids which could dehydrate you
  • Do not go out on an empty stomach
  • Avoid heavy physical work during peak heat hours
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles
  • Avoid tight, dark-coloured,or synthetic clothes

Instructions to Departments

The District Collector has directed all departments to ensure uninterrupted essential services of the following:

  • Health Department: Ensure treatment facilities for heatstroke patients
  • Education Department: Ensure safety of school children
  • Electricity & PHED: Maintain uninterrupted power and water supply
  • Animal Husbandry & Agriculture: Protect livestock and crops
  • Local Bodies: Arrange shade and drinking water at public places
