The Lakecity Udaipur is to observe strict ban on all plastic bags, plastic disposable cups and other material which leads to pollution. The district administration has issued notice to all plastic dealers and consumers to avoid dealing in such products.
The decision came following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Drive) starting from 25th September on the occasion of Pandit Deen Dayal Updhayay’s birth anniversary till 2nd October Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
Udaipur District collector Ashutosh Pednekar took a meeting on Monday with all plastic bags manufacturers, distributors etc. Collector has also instructed Police Department, Municipal Corporation, Pollution Control Board and other officials to take strict action against those found using plastic bags.
Besides banning plastic material, collector has also ordered to install adequate number of dustbins in busy markets like Bapu Bazar.
UIT and UMC officials were asked to conclude all pending works of road repairing in and around city.
