Udaipur lakes to be pollution free by 2018: Siddharth Sihag
Chairman Siddharth Sihag has said that primary lakes of Udaipur - Fatehsagar, Pichhola and Udaisagar will be pollution free by 2018. This is being done as part of the Amrut Yojana.
Chairman Siddharth Sihag has said that primary lakes of Udaipur – Fatehsagar, Pichhola and Udaisagar will be pollution free by 2018. This is being done as part of the Amrut Yojana.
Addressing a press gathering in New Delhi, Sihag said that primary reason for pollution of these lakes is sewage water. To overcome this, UMC has initiated various steps under Amrut Yojana and it is expected to complete all the activities by 2018.
Sihag informed that Rs 85 Crores have been sanctioned for improving the sewerage technology, Rs 75 Crores for laying new sewer lines and Rs 80 Crores for water purification units. Besides this, Rs 120 Crore has been set out for controlling sewer water that falls into the Ayar river that runs through the city. Work has already been initiated on a lot of these fronts and is expected to see completion by 2018.
District Collector Bishnu Charan Mallik and Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari were also present during the occasion.
