Udaipur Lakes under Live Surveillance

54 CCTV cameras will be installed around Pichola and Fatehsagar to keep a close watch on the lake side. Municipal corporation Commissioner Siddharth Sihag said that an eye will be kept on people dumping garbage in the lakes and will be penalized.

The cameras are also important from security point of view specifically during festivities.  Eve teasers can also be caught and punished for the same.  49 lakh rupees is the estimated expense on the installation of cameras which will be connected to the Command control centre.  Haji Sardar Mohammed, an ardent lake supporter, said that this is a very relevant step taken by the municipal corporation.

Manjhi temple, Gangaur ghat, Fatehsagar promenade and overflow and Bombay Chowpati are already equipped with CCTV cameras.  These wireless cameras are connected to the UIT control room.

With the cameras at various important places in the city, a number of activities can be watched and controlled. This is a good step taken to keep an eye over people who pollute the lakes by dumping garbage. Also the activities of eve teasing in the public places, speedy drivers etc can be controlled and the city can be made safer for the females and tourists.
