Work to make lake city a smart city is set to start from June 25th. In smart city presentations made to the Chief Secretary in Jaipur on Tuesday, Udaipur was lauded for the efforts made so far on the planning front and the presented projects were given a go-ahead.

In the presentation made by Udaipur Smart City Ltd. CEO, Sidharth Sihag, plans for the initial set of developmental activities were presented. He talked about setting up an Open Gymnasium at Gulab Bagh, Smart Class room in 4 schools in walled city, heritage conservation and taking up the sewerage project in the first phase. The plans were given an immediate go ahead by Chief Secretary C.S. Rajan.

While work on Open Gym and Heritage Conservation will kick off on 25-June, technical bids have already been invited and opened for tenders for carrying out sewerage project. Financial bids for sewerage project will be opened on 22 June post which work will commence.

It is being anticipated that a Central Minister may be invited to flag off the project on 25-June. Speculations are also ripe that Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs may be invited on the occasion.

Mayor, Chandra Singh Kothari and District Collector and UIT Chairman, Rohit Gupta were also present during the presentation and made their contributions.
