Udaipur to Crack Down on Encroachments, Fast Tracks Key Projects
Meeting between Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain and District Collector Gaurav Agarwal; major decisions taken on long-pending city issues
Udaipur, April 11, 2026 - Several key decisions were taken regarding long-pending issues of the city during an important meeting between Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain and District Collector Gaurav Agarwal.
The main focus of discussion was the encroachment issue along the Ayad River which has persisted for a long time. MLA Jain suggested that the Collector conduct a site inspection and take necessary action. The administration is likely to soon remove these encroachments and secure the area with wire fencing.
The Gulab Bagh parking project also came up for discussion. This has been stalled for a long time because of a stay order. The MLA urged the administration to initiate the process of removing the stay.
The most important decision taken was regarding land lease (patta) cases of 70 villages included in the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) periphery. Considering the long-standing confusion and delays, the Collector issued strict instructions to all tehsildars to resolve all pending patta files within seven days as per government guidelines.
