Udaipur to Hold National Lok Adalat on Sept 13
Pre-litigation and pending cases to be resolved amicably; DLSA urges citizens to register eligible disputes
Udaipur, Sept 10, 2025 - As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and under the aegis of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, a National Lok Adalat will be held in Udaipur on September 13.
Preparations have begun to ensure the success of the National Lok Adalat, under the guidance of Judge Gyan Prakash Gupta, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Kuldeep Sharma, Additional District Judge and Secretary of the DLSA, informed that necessary arrangements are being made for the disposal of maximum number of compoundable/disputable cases during this Lok Adalat.
Cases to Be Taken Up
Pre-Litigation Matters
- Cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque bounce)
- Money recovery disputes
- Labour and employment-related disputes
- Electricity, water and other utility bill disputes (except non-compoundable matters)
- Maintenance cases
- Revenue matters, including land measurement and division of holdings
- Civil disputes, service matters, consumer disputes, and other settlement-eligible matters pending before tribunals, commissions, forums, authorities, or other competent bodies.
Pending Court Cases (Litigated)
- Compoundable criminal cases
- Section 138 (NI Act), money recovery, MACT (Motor Accident Claims Tribunal) cases
- Labour and employment matters, Employee Compensation Act cases
- Utility bill disputes (excluding non-compoundable matters)
- Family disputes (excluding divorce cases)
- Land acquisition matters
- Service matters (except promotion and seniority disputes)
- All types of revenue cases, including land measurement and division
- Commercial disputes, bank disputes, private educational institution issues
- Cooperative matters, local body disputes (Development Authority/Municipal Corporations, etc.)
- Real estate disputes, railway claims, income tax, other tax matters
- Consumer vs. vendor/service provider disputes
- Civil cases (tenancy, partition, easement rights, injunctions, declarations, compensations, and specific performance claims)
- Any other compoundable matters pending before tribunals, commissions, forums, or authorities.
Kuldeep Sharma said that to ensure the success of the Lok Adalat, video conferencing and other communication channels have been used to issue instructions to all judicial officers in Udaipur district to identify maximum number of suitable cases and ensure their disposal on September 13 through the National Lok Adalat.
He also mentioned that if any party wishes to include their case in the Lok Adalat, they may approach the presiding officer of the Court where the case is currently pending and request to have it listed for settlement under the National Lok Adalat as per rules.
