Udaipur district received the top spot amongst 700+ districts in India for rain water conservation. The award was given by Nitin Gadkari, Minister for River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation in the Government of India.

Udaipur district received the top spot amongst 700+ districts in India for rain water conservation. The award was given by Nitin Gadkari, Minister for River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation in the Government of India.

RK Agarwal of Watershed Development and Soil Conservation Department informed that the award was received by Udaipur Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick and Smart City CEO Qummer Choudhary in New Delhi.

Agarwal informed that over last 3 years, 38000 works of water conservation have been carried out for retention of rain water. As a result of this, the water level in many villages have gone up by 6 to 10 ft.

There has been increase in cultivation area of Kharif, Rabi and other plantation. Many hand-pumps that had run dry are flowing with water again. It is because of all these results that Udaipur has come out on top in the national ranking
